Reliance has acquired stakes in Adlabs and other companies. They have also signed joint ventures with several Bollywood producers to make movies.
They have stepped into the distribution field and have acquired several movies for distribution.
Now they are all ready to launch their own FM radio channel called The Big FM.
It seems as though they are well and truly on the Bollywood bandwagon.
He is very excited these days and on pins and needles all the while as 2 of his movies are set for release in June.
The Train will have a premiere show during the IIFA award function. Awarapan – his movie by Mahesh Bhatt will have a worldwide release on the 29th of June. At the same time he is preparing for a stage performance for the IIFA awards in UK.
Dharmendra will be honored with the lifetime achievement award. Shilpa Shetty will also receive an award for her global impact she made in the Big Brother Show.
This is the name of Ajay Devgan’s home production. He has just completed the first shooting schedule. The entire cast and crew had hired a luxury liner for this. They have now returned to Mumbai to complete the movie.
The success of Cheeni Kum has left director R Balki in a euphoric state and now he is all charged to start his new venture- Pa.
He wants the real life father and son – Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek to play the role of father and son in the movie. It is a light comedy about the trials and tribulations of the relationship. Vidya Balan will play the lead female role.
He wants to launch the movie with the same producer – Sunil Manchanda and for the musical score, he would like to repeat Ilayaraja.
Ever since Shahrukh Khan took Amitabh Bachchan’s seat in the popular game show – Kaun Banega Crorepathi, this superstar has been a target for the media in competition with Big B. If one were to believe the press they are supposed to be archrivals.
They are working together in Ravi Chopra’s Bhoothnath. Ironically, during the entire movie, by accident or design, they have not shared the screen for a single shot, nor have they exchanged a single dialogue.
What does one make of that? Ravi Chopra laughs it off, saying that the script was such that Amitabh is in the pivotal role and is the ghost in the movie, and Shahrukh cannot see him, he can interact with him only through a child.
Director Vivek Sharma says that though they do not share a single frame – they are good pals, the media seems to have its own perception.
Shahrukh Khan is said to have taken the promotion of Priyanka Chopra as a personal challenge. Rumours have it that the famous watch brand where Shahrukh plays brand ambassador, introduced a female ambassador – Priyanka – only on Shahrukh’s recommendation.
It is said that Sushmita was replaced with Priyanka in Don only on Shahrukh’s say so.
When Aamir was searching desperately for a suitable female lead for his forthcoming movie – Gajagamini – again Shahrukh has put forth the name of Priyanka and said that he could vouch for her.
I’m sure Priyanka is thrilled at the honor.
It seems that the trend for making sequels has seriously set in. Sanjay Dutt will be the co-producer, along with White Feather Films, For Kaante 2.
He is writing the script for the sequel. The star cast will include, Sanju Baba of course, and will also star, Arjun Rampal, Suniel Shetty, and Fardeen Khan. Sanjay Dutt will try to rope in Amitabh Bachchan also.
Sri Devi –who was popularly known in the industry as Thunder Thighs – is all set to make a comeback. She was the reigning queen in the eighties, with hits like Mr. India, Chaalbaaz, Sadma, Laadla, Lamhe, Khuda Gawah etc.
She made a foray on the TV screen as a come back, when she did the Malini Iyer serial for Sahara channel.
On the 24th of February she staged a simply superb performance for the 52nd Filmfare awards function. She danced a medley of the 80’s and was mind blowingly beautiful and graceful.
A sequel to Mr. India is being planned, and Yash Chopra is also planning a movie in which she will star with Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Aishwariya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. Her husband Boney Kapoor is also planning a big movie for her comeback.
17 years after Chandni and with two beautiful daughters - Jhanvi and Khushi, Sri Devi has still maintained the charm and glamour that surrounds her persona. For an actor with such flair and talent, which is evident – it would be impossible to keep her away, from the call of the spotlights.
So both the yesteryear queens - Madhuri and Sri Devi, will be back to rock Bollywood.
Jiah Khan is making her debut with legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd, and is ready to make the nation sit up and take notice of her dancing and singing prowess.
Jiah has composed and sung the song – Take Lite. The song is loaded with Jiah’s attitude in life. She choreographed the song and danced a sharara type of hip-shaking number. She told the press that she had composed the song when she was 16 years old and when Ram Gopal Varma heard it, he loved it so much that, he suggested that she reproduce an Indianised version. In deference to his suggestion she changed the orchestration and the lyrics, along with the producer – Amar Mohit. The title of the song Take Lite – means that, one should take all the problems and stress in life, lightly. The song describes Jiah’s attitude in Nishabd.
Madhuri’s comeback film seems to be all about dance as the title of the film is Aaja Nachle. She plays the role of the mother of an eight-year-old child. She has come to Mumbai and signs the contract because she is at loose ends. This reminds you of her real life situation – Right? Kunal Kapoor, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey are part of the star cast.
Tabu’s -The Namesake with Mira Nair is awaiting release and her Cheeni Kum is also in the finishing stages. She has signed up with Nupur Asthana – who was Ketan Mehta’s assistant for Bombay High. She plays a schoolteacher who understands and deals with teenagers.
