Anupama Chopra – wife of filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is ready to release her biography “ King of Bollywood – Shahrukh Khan” on the 9^th of September.

It has taken her 4 years to write the biography. When she started writing, she approached Shahrukh Khan about it – at first he felt his life did not warrant writing about and he was already halfway through an autobiography. Later he promised Anupama that he would wait for her book to be completed before he would release his autobiography.

He was unaware that it would take Anupama 4 years to complete her book, but he kept his promise all the same. Her book will be the first Indian book to be released by an American publishing channel – Grant Central Publishing.

Anupama has known Shahrukh since she first interviewed him for Yes Boss in 1996.Though she does not know him intimately, she feels that he has definitely become more calm and mellow now, but he is as energetic as always.

The book is about a middle class Muslim lad from Delhi, who takes the Bombay film industry by storm and goes on to become a super star. She follows his career in the Bollywood film industry, where, you have dreams, obsessions, spotlights, jealousies, extortion and corruption.

Shahrukh has skimmed through her book, just so that it did not overlap with his own autobiography. He was very happy with her work.

Unbeaten Dedication

While on Shahrukh Khan, it bears mention that very few actors are as dedicated to a role as him.

He takes his roles very seriously, and works hard to achieve the right effect. His role in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om requires a chiseled look, and to achieve this he is working out.

In fact he has bought an expensive fitness machine worth over 3 lakhs called The Power Plate. Though this machine has not yet been launched in India – The authorities made an exception for Shahrukh and saw that it was shipped out for him ASAP.

Prashant – his fitness trainer – is all praise for Shahrukh’s zeal and dedication for training.

Ever since Shahrukh Khan took Amitabh Bachchan’s seat in the popular game show – Kaun Banega Crorepathi, this superstar has been a target for the media in competition with Big B. If one were to believe the press they are supposed to be archrivals.

They are working together in Ravi Chopra’s Bhoothnath. Ironically, during the entire movie, by accident or design, they have not shared the screen for a single shot, nor have they exchanged a single dialogue.

What does one make of that? Ravi Chopra laughs it off, saying that the script was such that Amitabh is in the pivotal role and is the ghost in the movie, and Shahrukh cannot see him, he can interact with him only through a child.

Director Vivek Sharma says that though they do not share a single frame – they are good pals, the media seems to have its own perception.

Shahrukh Khan is said to have taken the promotion of Priyanka Chopra as a personal challenge. Rumours have it that the famous watch brand where Shahrukh plays brand ambassador, introduced a female ambassador – Priyanka – only on Shahrukh’s recommendation.

It is said that Sushmita was replaced with Priyanka in Don only on Shahrukh’s say so.

When Aamir was searching desperately for a suitable female lead for his forthcoming movie – Gajagamini – again Shahrukh has put forth the name of Priyanka and said that he could vouch for her.

I’m sure Priyanka is thrilled at the honor.
