Jiah Khan is making her debut with legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma’s Nishabd, and is ready to make the nation sit up and take notice of her dancing and singing prowess.

Jiah has composed and sung the song – Take Lite. The song is loaded with Jiah’s attitude in life. She choreographed the song and danced a sharara type of hip-shaking number. She told the press that she had composed the song when she was 16 years old and when Ram Gopal Varma heard it, he loved it so much that, he suggested that she reproduce an Indianised version. In deference to his suggestion she changed the orchestration and the lyrics, along with the producer – Amar Mohit. The title of the song Take Lite – means that, one should take all the problems and stress in life, lightly. The song describes Jiah’s attitude in Nishabd.

Shahrukh Khan has now found his footing in the Kaun Banega Crorepati, and seems to be doing better, as the programme progresses. He has an added advantage of being able to rope in his friends to the hot seat to add zing to the show. On the Valentines Day special he had 3 celebrity couples. He is doing it again- this time for the Holi special he has his Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna leading heroines – Rani Mukherji and Preity Zinta together on the hot seat.

Both the ladies who were friends seem to have had a falling out. This did not deter Shahrukh, who has a special knack in making all his heroines feel special.

Deepa Mehta a director of International acclaim is busy with the promotional activity for the release of Water scheduled for the 9^th of March.

She is busy preparing for her next project, which was earlier known as Komagata Naru and is now named Exclusive. She was very keen that Amitabh Bachchan, play the central role in the film. She is thrilled to have finally convinced him to act for her. Big B will be enacting the role of a nationalist who challenged the British in a unique and extraordinary way.

Deepa will be repeating John Abraham – he has worked with her in Water. The other stars are Seema Biswas, Kabir Bedi, and well-known British actor Terence Stamp.The movie is to be produced by David Hamilton and the music composer is A R Rahman. Javed Akthar will be the lyricist.

Saif Ali Khan was on his way to attend the Stardust Awards Ceremony, when he complained of acute chest pain. He was immediately admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He underwent an ECG, which showed irregularities. He was advised to have an angiogram, which was performed by cardiologist – Vivek Mahan and his team. Dr Narendra Trivedi said that though he was in no danger, he would be kept under observation for a couple of days.

The 36-year-old star has been very busy and this may have been a result of over work and stress. His girl friend Rosa and sister Soha were in the hospital with him. He was to perform the Beedi Jalaiyle number from Omkara on the stage, for the award ceremony. He won the award for best actor in a negative role for his performance in Omkara – Preity Zinta collected the trophy on his behalf

Among his visitors who rushed immediately to the hospital were director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sudhir Mishra, Fardeen Khan with his wife and Zayed Khan.

A two-hour special show will celebrate Valentines Day for TV viewers. It promises to be a magical evening of romance, fun and laughter.

Three special couples have been invited to participate in the show.

Shahrukh makes an entry, amidst heart shaped balloons and to the background score of the “Main Hoon Na” title song. Day, mood by making them discuss the romance in their personal life and marriage. They dance to “Chaiyya Chaiyya”at the end of their segment.

The sister – brother duo, of Zoya Akhtar and Farhaan Akhtar, follows this sizzling couple. Under Shahrukh’s expert tutelage Zoya reveals some of Farhan’s secrets which leave him embarrassed and laughing helplessly.

The third couple on the hot seat is Farah Khan and Karan Johar. Both of them are good friends and good friends of Shahrukh too. They are entertaining with their infectious humour.

All three couples will donate their prize money to charities close to their heart.

He has interwoven the lives of street characters, maintaining the stark reality of the life they lead, at the same time showing the humane side to their characters.

The film moves at a very fast pace in the beginning, as he wants to familiarize the audience with all the characters he will be depicting.

In the movie Bhandarkar, reveals the nexus of the political leaders with the underworld.

The Traffic Signal in the movie is the Keller Marg in Mumbai. You see that the red signal actually starts the business for the hawkers, selling paper, flowers, clothes etc.

You have an orphan boy from Chennai – Chinnaswamy Vedagiri who is called Tsunami, he feels he will find his lost parents. The cheeky Paaya who claims that his father is dead so that he makes some money by begging.

Rani and her sister, who are migrants from Gujarat, eke their living by selling clothes from Kutch.

Silsila – Kunal Khemu is so named as he was born on the day that the Yash Chopra Silsila was released in Mumbai. He is a sensitive youth who collects Hafta (Commission) from all these people and then pays the local underworld mafia.

Noorie- Konkona Sen Sharma, is a prostitute who uses colorful language and loud lipstick. She shares a relationship with the lost looking Dominic- Ranvir Shorey who is a junkie.

Life is tough and becomes tougher when a builder wants to construct a flyover at the signal. The livelihood of the urchins, eunuchs, hawkers are at stake.

Bhandarkar has managed to do justice to such a large cast, by expert editing. The movie is definitely an experience not to be missed.

Mani Rathnam does it again – each movie of his, so different and fresh, all masterpieces. First Roja, Bombay, Dil Se and Yuva, now Guru, even though the audience has started to expect a lot from him, he comes through every time. His mastery as a filmmaker reflects throughout the movie.

Loosely based on the real life story of industrialist - Dhirubhai Ambani – this post independence setting is around the dreams and ambitions of a village lad.

Gurukant Desai is the son of a schoolteacher. He would earn good amount of money, than earn a higher education. Much to the disappointment of his father, he leaves home to work in Turkey. He returns to India after 7 years of work, as he would rather work for himself.

He marries his friend’s sister, who has been jilted in love. He is practical about it as the dowry she would bring would be a stepping-stone to expand his business. He uses loopholes in the system to make big bucks.

Abhishek Bachchan is very convincing in his portrayal of Gurukant; he makes you forget that he is an actor and not actually the character. This is definitely his best performance till date. At times there is a feeling of deja’vu when you see him in the court scenes. You are reminded of the likes of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan – in Agnipath.

Aishwarya has done a better job in the second half of the film. She is too polished to make a convincing village belle.

Mithun has done an excellent job. Madhavan, Sachin Khedekar, and Manoj Joshi have all performed very well.

Mallika has excelled in her sizzling dance number, but Vidya Balan was wasted, as she hardly had any screen space.

The music by A R Rahman was outstanding, makes you affirm that he is the best music composer in India. The cinematography was excellent.

Salman Khan was invited to inaugurate a store for Red Tape shoes in Safeer mall in Sharjah.

Though the inauguration was for 8.30 pm, the crowd started collecting outside the store from 4 pm onwards.

When Salman arrived at 8 pm he could not enter the store, due to the milling throng and was whisked in through a back entrance. The security personnel were finding it difficult to contain the growing crowd, they asked Salman to leave as soon as the formalities of the opening were over. He was mobbed even though security personnel surrounded him

The elevators were jammed and people broke the shutters of the shop in their frenzy to meet their idol.

The Sharjah police had to be called, as the crowd was too large for the mall security to contain.
